What Does Nirvana Mean in Buddhism?

RevHori 10-11-13

For most Americans, Nirvana refers to the 1990s rock band. But the word, Nirvana, is actually a Buddhist concept, one that Shakyamuni Buddha, the Historical Buddha, shared over 3,000 years ago.

If you are interested in learning about Buddhism, enlightenment, Nirvana and how to be happy in this world, join us this Saturday, November 9th, at 2:00 – 3:00 pm EDT for our Introduction to Buddhism meeting. In the meeting, our Chief Priest, Rev. Murata will answer the question “What is Buddhism?” and other questions like “What does nirvana mean in Buddhism?”  You will also learn how to chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo and how to properly use Buddhist Juzu prayer beads.

Please join us! If you have any questions, please call or email the Temple.  Our Assistant Priest, Rev. Hori is available to answer your questions.
