Buddhism: How To Clear the Dust & Dirt from Your Mind

Enlightenment is another word for wisdom. Faith is the means to obtain the treasure while enlightenment is the treasure itself. If is through faith that one can acquire the wisdom of all the Buddhas of the three existences. Wisdom is Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo. Faith is the cause for obtaining wisdom, and it corresponds to the stage of first hearing the name of the Law. No one can attain enlightenment without faith, and only with faith does enlightenment become possible.*

written by Nichiren Daishonin, 13th century Japan

What is the dust or dirt in the human mind?** They are the three poisons of greed, anger and stupidity. Greed is the mind of devouring, selfishness and desire. Anger is the mind of rage, and stupidity is the mind of foolishness and egotism. Buddhism teaches us how to clear these poisons from our mind.
