All Living Beings Possess the Buddha Nature

There are many people around the world who are controlled by their selfish desires. They commit evil deeds, harm others, and cause trouble in society. At first glance, it would appear that such people have no conscience. However, the Nirvana Sutra teaches:

All living beings without exception possess the Buddha nature.

The teachings of true Buddhism reveal that evil people are included among those who undergo sufferings. And even such individuals can attain Buddhahood by bringing forth their own Buddha nature, if they acknowledge their negative causes and strive in the practice of Buddhism.*
