World Religion Classes Visit Myosenji Buddhist Temple

Dec10 2014 Student Visit Anne Arundel HS World Religion Classes2

This week several high school classes visited Myosenji Temple. Our Chief Priest, Rev. Murata, gave a lecture on the basic concepts of Buddhism and how Nichiren Shoshu believers chant and recite the Sutra. During the question and answer session, the students had many questions. Here is a sample of their questions:

  • What does tonsure mean?
  • What is the significance of the Buddhist prayer beads?
  • What is the daily life of a Buddhist priest in America?
  • What does Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo mean?
  • Can I chant at home?
  • Why does the Assistant Priest beat on the Taiko drum?

If you would like to hear the answers to these questions or any other questions you may have about Buddhism and chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, join us this SATURDAY, December 13th, for our next Introduction to Buddhism meeting. The meeting begins at 2:00 pm and finishes about 3:00 pm.  More information …
